SONY MAY BECOME A BROADCASTER Sony Corporation said today (Friday) that it is "considering making full use of [its] comprehensive assets" in film, TV, and music to enter the broadcasting business. While no specific plans were disclosed, the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the company is considering taking a 30-percent stake in the digital broadcasting company JSkyB, a partnership of News Corp and the Japanese multimedia company Softbank, set to be launched in Japan in April. The newspaper said that the deal would involve cash, broadcasting equipment and program content.
